Digital artistic portfolio and the upload portal

The admission to the aptitude test is based on the assessment of your submitted portfolio/work sample.

Please also note your name again in the PDF (if applicable as a title page) and please name your digital portfolio/work sample according to the following scheme: document_type_last_name_first_name.pdf (Example: digital folder_mustermann_max.pdf)


All courses except MA Live Art Forms 

  • The digitized portfolio should contain at least 20 artistic works. There is no specifications for format, content or technology for the work
  • Time-based digital works can be submitted via an upload function in the application portal
  • All content must be summarized in a single PDF. The maximum file size is 12 MB

 

MA Live Art Forms program

  • Please submit work samples of your own artistic work in the form of a digital portfolio with a maximum of 40 pages, which can contain a maximum of 5 hyperlinks to time-based documentations of a maximum length of 15 minutes and a maximum of 3 hyperlinks to web-based projects and apps. There are no requirements regarding the format, technique or content of the works.
  • Time-based digital works can be submitted via an upload function in the application portal
  • All content must be combined into a single PDF. The maximum file size is 12 MB

 

Tips on digitization

  • Digitize analogue works with a mobile phone or digital camera against a neutral background
  • The brighter the light when capturing the image, the better the quality of the photos (illuminate evenly with no shadows)
  • Ensure colour accuracy when taking photographs
  • Include brief notes on the material and technique for each work/group of works
  • Quote the size of the work
  • Photograph sketchbooks page by page or make a video of the pages being turned over

Numerous freeware programs are available for creating PDFs. Here are some practical tips:

Upload function in the application portal for time-based digital works

An additional upload function in the upload portal enables you to submit your time-based digital works to us. Please note:

  • The works should not exceed a maximum length of 15 minutes
  • Please use films in standard format (mov, mp4, etc.)
  • Please combine several files in one ZIP archive, as only one file per applicant can be uploaded
  • In Windows, highlight the relevant files and right click "Send to" - "Zip-compressed folder"
  • In MacOS, highlight the relevant files and right click - "Compress objects"
  • data volume 500 MB
  • Please also name the folder/file in the following scheme: document_type_last_name_first_name (Example: digital folder_mustermann_max)

 

How to use the upload portal for time-based digital works:

  • Go to http://upload.adbk-nuernberg.de
  • Select or insert file via “drag and drop”
  • Click "Upload" (please ignore the “Password” and “Time limit” fields)
  • Copy either the “Download page” or “Direct download link” link and insert it into the application portal
  • Close the page
